BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 23 (PIA) - Students from various schools in Caraga region featured their own produced films to enlighten the minds and perspective of the youth and Caraganons on the chaos which the terrorist groups Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army - National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) bring to the communities.

During the recently conducted 1st Philippine National Police (PNP) Film Festival, designated movie houses in Butuan City and Surigao del Sur were jampacked with movie-goers to express their support and appreciation to the craft among the participating student contenders.

Different sectors viewed the chosen 10 entries of the said film fest and recognized the inclination to filmmaking through the skills and artistry demonstrated by the student-film makers who conceptualized the whole stories that would remind the youth to be smart and wise enough not to be deceived by the recruitment of the NPAs and revolt against the government.

The 10 movie entries are "Kulintas" And "Bala" - two movies produced by the Agusan National High School in Butuan City; "Karapatan sa Kapahamakan" by Tubay National High School in Agusan del Norte; "Gamu-Gamo" and "Gomad" by Northwestern Agusan Colleges in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte; "Eli, Eli Lama Sabachthani" of Nasipit Vocational School, Agusan del Norte; "Uniporming Kupas" by Northern Mindanao Colleges Inc. in Cabadbaran City; "Ang Ugma" by Mother Of Mercy Academy of Barobo, Surigao del Sur; "Blood" by Saint Theresa College in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur; and "Magkabilang Panig" by Saint Michael College in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur and Maalman Community Christian Center.

In line with this, Police Brigadier General Gilberto DC Cruz commended the students for their enthusiasm in participating the first film fest of PNP Caraga, and for showing their best effort and care for the youth sector.

He emphasized that this event also forms part to the implementation of Executive Order No. 70 or the whole-of-nation approach to end the insurgency in the country. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
